Health insurance and medical care Erasmus students need to possess health insurance that is valid in the CR. EU students can use their EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) which entitles them to free emergency healthcare in the ČR. EU students should register their EHIC at a local insurance company immediately on arriving in the Czech Republic. The company will provide the student with a confirmation of registration, which s/he must present whenever s/he needs health care. It is important to contact a medical institution that has a contract with the student’s health insurance company.
