Printmaking/Drawing

Printmaking/Drawing offers a comprehensive and integrated study program, including all ways and forms of classical graphic technologies. It introduces graphics as a flexible art with a deep artistic, technological, technical and aesthetic tradition that has become a staple of modern communication structures with a wide range and impact.

Intermedia

Intermedia offers a broad spectrum of study that stands on the free movement between media and conceptual thinking. In addition to artistic work, the studio emphasizes the ability to think artistically, to think in broader artistic and socio-political contexts. Students can surf across media and find appropriate artistic means and techniques to their chosen themes. Experimentation and the process of making is an important factor of study; the thought structure behind the finished work is as valuable as the result itself. Intermedia creates a space for individual creation as well as sharing. The studio is based on the ability for open communication and collaborative reflection. Such work leads students to think more complexly, not only within the confines of the visual arts. Practical work is accompanied by a continuous comparative study in art history along with an orientation in social history.

Painting

The basic objective of painting is to create conditions for the development of individual personality. Students learn the specifics of painting schools and styles, their main - and those less familiar - leaders - especially in the context of their overlaps with other stages of the painting to the present. Great emphasis is on developing student’s ability to separate his/her personal development from fashion art trends and finding own expression - in the line – or in the confrontation - with contemporary art. Course educates a free artist who is fully aware of his responsibilities towards his work and society.

Photography

On the students there are high demands not only on their artistic creativity skills but also to prove their ability to assess the resulting effects of their work prior to its emergence. Photos often capture instant, genuine moments - shot, the atmosphere - which is allways unique. Students work from the very beginning - and prove their skills - integrating their work within the photographic design.

Graphic design

The creative discipline of Graphic design is focused on the constantly expanding and evolving field of visual communication and its use in practice. The aim of the study is to gain the ability to create a complex project based on an understanding of contemporary graphic design and its broader multimedial context. The course offers a wide range of creative, theoretical and technical skills, indispensable not only for the formation of every creative personality, but also for professional success in dynamically developing field of the multimedia graphic design.

Space/interior design

The subject of Space/Interior Design establishes itself at the interface between the subjective understanding of artistic expression and the social space created by the constant dialogue between the artist and society. The content of the studio is a series of assignments, allowing to learn the basics of architecture, interior design, site-specific installations, performances and related technologies. Interdisciplinarity is given special importance here.

Cultural Anthropology and Art

Anthropology of Art provides students with a unique confrontation with the different aesthetics of foreign cultures and thus offers an expanded perspective on the category of art as such. In this one-year course, students will explore the fundamentals of theoretical anthropology in order to better understand and approach art objects that represent their traditional communities.

During the study, students receive a quality, comprehensive overview of the international and Czech art history. The aim is to support the individual approach to art, the ability to think about art history not as a given set of facts, but as a living tradition. Students should exceed the usual framework of art history and begin to understand the history of art as a creative process that shaped human civilization.

Thanks to the good orientation in the art market,  students would be prepare to find appropriate application of their work . The subject offers basic economic concepts of art trade, the use of art in the corporate image and art management.

Museum and Gallery Studies

The lectures provide comprehensive information about the environment that will be for the future work of most graduates ADI determining; environment, cultural institutions, art market professional and interest groups, administrative bodies, specialized on cultural issues etc. Subject informs about social position of the artist in the past and today, the history of collecting and museums, foundations of contemporary museum practice, exposure history and contemporary exhibition practice (also within the boundaries of a  museum).

Philosophy of the Artistic Expression

Philosophy, aesthetics, environment, media conception of reality, technical reproducibility of art, a shift from the principle of sightseeing to the imaginary. Philosophy formation described as part of the media thought from the perception of images, dual images of reality to the perception of form. The aim is to highlight the "procedural" specificity creation, the relationship of art and thinking, thinking with differences in shape, colour or principle lines dispositive space and spectator area, the relationship between art and technology, display space and time display: including technical forms of mediation system.

Psychology of Art is one of the most important areas of artistic creation. Unfortunately, it has not yet received adequate space in university teaching. Therefore deserves great attention at ADI. Subject Psychology of Art is conceived as an integral part of quality base on which every artist should also draw on the knowledge of his/her  work - and which will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the quality of his/her work  and following success.
