The creative discipline of Graphic design is focused on the constantly expanding and evolving field of visual communication and its use in practice. The aim of the study is to gain the ability to create a complex project based on an understanding of contemporary graphic design and its broader multimedial context. The course offers a wide range of creative, theoretical and technical skills, indispensable not only for the formation of every creative personality, but also for professional success in dynamically developing field of the multimedia graphic design.
The student will get acquainted and acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of typography and usage of fonts, poster, corporate identity, integrated advertising campaigns, publications, web design and motion graphic video. The projects are also an opportunity for students to try teamwork in groups or collaboration with students from other ADI studios, which is important for understanding the current criteria for the practical application of this discipline.
Lectures and discussions are focused on various theoretical areas of visual communication, as well as on the teaching of graphic programs for the creation of graphic design, animation and video in Adobe creative programs and their subsequent practical use. The teaching of individual topics is not strictly divided into individual semesters, the thematic areas are intertwined and closely related.
After completing this study, graduates can look for employment not only in the field of creative industry, but also in the field of various attractive areas such as cultural projects in public space and others.

Within the 1st semester, the course is focused on getting acquainted with the basics of 2D graphics, graphic design and typography
Teaching consists of understanding the basic rules of image creation, graphic composition, the use of fonts and typography, and understanding the creation of posters and graphic layouts.
Individual topics are explored through various creative tasks, which are based on the principle of play and experiment and aim to arouse in the student a creative approach in acquiring this complex knowledge.
The syllabus is divided into several thematic areas:
- image and graphic composition in graphic design, basics and principles of visual communication
- getting to know and understanding the basic rules when using fonts and typography
- understanding of poster creation and graphic layout
- basics of visual style

In course of the 2nd semester, the content of the study follows the understanding of graphic design as a contemporary communication tool in the field of visual identity.
Teaching focuses on the issue of graphic layout and its use in various print and digital formats as part of integrated campaign. At the same time, students will get acquainted with the basic principles of short motion graphic animation. During the course, students learn to understand the principles of design thinking and technological process applied to various media.
The syllabus is divided into several thematic areas:
- visual identity and its use in various graphic layouts suitable for different media
- basic principles of simple animation and understanding of procedures for creating motion graphics
- understanding the basic rules for creating different layouts as part of an integrated campaign

Within the 3rd semester, the course focuses on problematic of graphic design and its use in different complex layouts. At the same time, visual communication is examined in a broader theoretical and practical context. These are areas such as author's publication, website layout, magazine redesign, own portfolio or other practical application. Teaching consists in understanding the complex graphic layout when creating one’s own project.
The syllabus is divided into several thematic areas:
- understanding the basic rules and project development in the creation of comprehensive multi-page layout
- understanding the function of typography in the creation of complex multi-page layout
- work with various programs when creating a responsive web layout and understanding it's important issues
- understanding the function of typography and sign by creating layout for information design

Within the 4th semester, teaching is focused on various aspects of visual communication and builds on the skills acquired in previous semesters. Students apply their knowledge in various graphic layouts and formats, static or dynamic media by creation of their own project. At the same time, emphasis is placed on video file editing and various aspects of motion graphics or video.
The syllabus is divided into several thematic areas:
- knowledge deepening in the creation of motion graphics
- the use of various media in the creation of complex multimedia project
- video file editing

Within the 5th Semester, the theoretical part of a complex multimedia BA project takes place.

Within the 6th Semester, the practical part of a complex multimedia BA project takes place.
|
|
Course curriculum:
1. Basics of 2D graphics, graphic design and typography. (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop).
2. Graphic design and visual communication in the context of various media. 2D animation, motion graphics, part 1 (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects).
3. Application of graphic design in a broader context, own project. 2D animation, motion graphics, part 2 (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects).
4. Visual communication in a broader context, own project. Video, video file editing (Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro).
Students of the Graphic design studio will get acquainted with the most important programs for creating 2D graphic design, animation and video from Adobe Creative (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro). The learned technical skills and discussed theoretical topics are intertwined and closely related with the various student projects.
Prerequisite for admission to study in the Graphic design studio however is some basic knowledge in graphic programs Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
